About Weekend Birder
Weekend Birder is one of Australia's favourite science and nature podcasts. Hosted by Kirsty Costa, it invites people to get to know the birds already living around them through stories, science and everyday observations.
Whether you're completely new to birds or you've loved them for years, Weekend Birder helps to reveals how fascinating birds really are and how paying closer attention can deepen our relationship with the living world.
Why birds?
Most Australians encounter birds every single day. They're in our backyards, local parks, city streets and beaches. We hear them through our windows and see them on the way to work. We just don't always notice them.
Weekend Birder began with a simple belief: noticing birds changes how we experience the world.
The more we notice, the more curious we become. Stories and science help us understand what we're seeing. And as we get to know the birds around us, we begin to care more deeply about them and the places we share.
That's what Weekend Birder is really about - building our relationships with birds.
